Hip Hop Hassid is not a conventional documentary about music because Shnuer Hasofer is not a conventional artist. As his alter ego Describes, Shneur doesn’t rap about expensive cars, top-shelf liquor, or demeaning women because he is an observant, Hassidic Jew. Shneur views music as a medium to awaken the human soul and decides to expose himself outside his own community in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, to confront and challenge racial and religious conflicts.
