Russia, March 1934. After the Red Terror, during the period of collectivization and dekulakization, Mitrofan Nikitin realizes that people’s lives are drastically different from what the party had promised. Seventeen years after the revolution, the people are mired in famine, epidemic diseases, executions, arrests, and theft. Mitrofan, who initially supported the idea of the revolution, undergoes a change in his political beliefs. He finds himself alone with his conscience. In order to save the collective farm and speak out about the country’s problems, he decides to do something no one before him dared to do.
